At annual gala Rush Oak Park Hospital raises more than $62,000 for a new community program to study and treat prediabetes.

Oak Park, IL (March 31, 2010) — Rush Oak Park Hospital celebrated its annual medical staff gala March 20 with donations topping $62,000 for Project Lifestyle Change, a new community program to promote good health and prevent Type 2 diabetes by studying and treating prediabetes.

Rush Oak Park Hospital physicians, board members and leaders gathered at Primitive in Chicago for the evening, which included jazz, dinner and a silent auction. All proceeds benefited Project Lifestyle Change.

For community members with prediabetes, Project Lifestyle Change will provide a model for future affordable care including group education on blood glucose monitoring, restricted-fat and -calorie meal planning, exercise and behavior modification. Rush Oak Park Hospital aims to launch the new program later this spring.
