Skilled Care Unit Earns Five Stars for Overall Quality

The unit provides the ideal environment for patients whose conditions have stabilized but who still need 24-hour nursing attention.

Oak Park, IL (May 11, 2010) — Congratulations to the Rush Oak Park Hospital Skilled Care Unit for earning a five-star rating for overall quality in the most recent Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services nursing home rating report.

The Skilled Care Unit provides the ideal environment for patients whose conditions have stabilized but who still need 24-hour nursing attention. Staffed by physicians, nurses, and specialists in physical, occupational and speech therapies, the unit offers a complete, personalized program of care that focuses on providing patients the time to heal in an environment that combines nursing and rehabilitation for optimal recovery.

In the report, the unit earned five stars for its most recent health inspection, a comprehensive process in which trained inspectors make an on-site visit to look at all major aspects of care. The unit also earned five stars for overall staffing levels. In particular, the average amount of time nursing staff spent with each patient contributed to the unit’s high rating for overall quality. The report also rated the unit based on quality measures.
